Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Zimmermann

Wolfgang Zimmermann studied chemistry and biology at the Medizinisch-Naturwissenschaftliche Hochschule Ulm, Germany and the University of Heidelberg, Germany receiving his Diplom degree in 1981 and doctorate in 1984 from the University of Heidelberg.

From 1985 to 1987, he was a post-doctoral fellow at the Dept. of Biochemistry and Applied Molecular Biology, University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, UK. From 1988 to 1993, he was lecturer and research group leader in Enzyme Technology at the Department of Biotechnology, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich, Switzerland, and from 1993 to 1999 full professor of Biotechnology at Aalborg University, Denmark.

In 1999, he was appointed full professor of Bioprocess Technology at Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany, and since 2005 he is full professor of Microbiology and Bioprocess Technology at the University of Leipzig.
